Easy Summer Hairstyles for Girls
School’s out, the sun is shining and kids everywhere are living their best lives. For your little girl, summer is a magical season packed with special moments, from beach days to backyard barbecues and everything in between.
We’ve put together eight easy, adorable hairstyles to take your daughter through the summer, using our favorite Madison Braids accessories to make styling as simple as possible. The secret ingredient to these fun, fuss-free looks? Handmade, adjustable headband braids, sized to comfortably fit girls ages three and up.
Inside-Out Ponytail
This twist on the classic ponytail looks fancy, but it’s the easiest thing in the world. Make a loose low ponytail and secure it with an elastic, then separate the hair right above the elastic, creating a “hole” in your daughter’s hair. Flip her ponytail up and into the hole and gently pull it through. For the ultimate twisty hairstyle, add the Junie Twist headband braid.
Braided Bob
Little girls look sweet with short hair, but less length does limit your styling options. A pre-braided headband allows you to give your kid beautiful braids that would normally only work on long hair. Bonus: it’ll hold her hair away from her face. Brush her hair back or part it down the middle, slide her favorite braid into place...and that’s it!
Side Pony with a Braid
Do a fresh take on the plain old ponytail by arranging hers at the side of her head, then make things even more interesting by adding a headband braid. For extra points, hide her ponytail holder by wrapping it with a section of hair from her ponytail and securing it with a bobby pin.
Lacey Low Pony
Want to twist a ribbon through your daughter’s braid, but not sure how? Pick up a Lacey braid! This dainty style features a blue lace ribbon woven right into the braid. Fix her hair in a low ponytail, add the Lacey and tie the loose ends of the ribbon around her ponytail for a delicately sweet look.
Tucked-Up Updo
Finally, an updo you can do on your own! Your daughter will feel like a princess in this elegant updo, just right for summer weddings and parties. Brush out your daughter’s hair and position a headband braid around the crown of her head. Gather up her loose hair in sections and tuck each section into the back of the headband braid, creating a roll. If you like, frame her face with tendrils by gently freeing and curling a small section of hair at each temple.
Top Knot
This simple style will keep her hair out of her eyes and off her neck, perfect for busy days at the beach or biking around town. Pull your daughter’s hair into a ponytail at the very top of her head (it may help to flip her head upside-down first), then twist it into a bun. If her hair is on the fine or short side, you can always add volume with a Top Knot Ponytail Holder. It’s as easy and comfortable to wear as an ordinary elastic, and it makes those everyday buns so much fuller!
Super Ponytail
Does your daughter dream of showing off an Ariana-inspired ponytail? Let her live those ponytail dreams whenever she wants by getting her the Bree Ponytail from Madison Braids. This comfortable, no-glue extension ties around the base of her natural ponytail, adding length and fullness. Set it off with a cute bow or ribbon—and when she’s ready to go back to her usual length, just untie it and go.
Soak Up the Sunshine!
Take advantage of these cute, time-saving hairstyles to help your daughter enjoy every minute of her summer adventures. Let her start the day by picking a look, spend a few minutes bonding together as you fix her hair, then...on to summer fun!
