Cute Halloween Costumes with Headband Braids
Halloween is coming! For one night only, you can be whatever you want…so what’ll it be? Get some inspiration from this list of Halloween costume ideas for women and girls.
Each look takes advantage of pre-braided headband braids to add some DIY flair to your Halloween hair. They’re comfortable enough to wear for a day of trick-or-treating or a night of partying and can be adjusted to fit anyone aged three and up.
Warrior Princess
Lady knights, we ride at dawn. There’s nothing like a headband braid to keep your hair out of your eyes in battle (or to help you look fiercely fabulous as you eat candy). Buckle your armor, dab on your war paint and pair the Double Lulu or Five Strand with a practical ponytail or side braid. Or, if you’re not expecting a fight, slip on your favorite headband braid and let the rest of your hair fall down your back.
Daphne Bridgerton
There are so many styles to love from Netflix’s hit show Bridgerton, including some gorgeous braided updos. Wear short, sheer gloves and a dress in Daphne’s signature pale blue (or any Regency-style dress—a nap dress works) and sweep your hair into a simple updo. Complete the look with the Junie Twist or another elegant headband braid. Or, if you’re feeling even fancier, recreate one of Daphne’s ball-ready looks with long gloves and the fanciest gown you’ve got and top your updo with a plume or tiara.
Hippie
Everything comes back into style…even if it’s only for Halloween. Go full flower child by dressing in flowing tie-dye or paisley clothing and accessorizing with peace sign jewelry and a fringed vest. Brush your hair out and position the Olivia headband across your forehead and over your hair, pulling out a few strands to cover the band if you like.
Princess
Lots of little girls decide to dress as a princess at least once in their lives. Luckily, headband braids let you play fairy godmother, transforming your daughter’s tresses in seconds! Just slip a braid (something fun, like the Butterfly or Nori Gourd) over loose hair, clip in a tiara if you’ve got one, and you’re golden! No magic wand necessary, although a few minutes with a curling wand will work wonders if you want to really make her Halloween.
Shepherdess
Shepherdess or milkmaid for a day? Turn up the pastoral charm with a cute braided look. Make two braided pigtails and either leave them hanging or fasten them across the back of your head with small claw clips. For a winning touch, add one of our blue ribbon braids: the Lacey, Blaire Fishtail or Blaire Lulu Two Strand. You can leave the ends of the ribbons loose, tie them in a bow or weave them through your pigtail braids.
Greco-Roman
Time for a toga party! To channel your inner ancient, drape yourself in a sheet or pair a simple white dress with a brown or gold belt. For a Greek-inspired ‘do, wear the Arisa Fishtail braid with the rest of your hair in a side fishtail. Or lean Roman with the Luka Chain or Double Lulu and your hair in a half-bun or piled high on your head. If you’ve got one, top off your outfit with a wreath or circlet.
